Hands-On Papers
From Learning to Leading

" Learning to do research changed our lives, so we want to help our peers change their lives too."
- Co-Founders
Who Are We?
We are an initiative co-founded by 3 senior medical students who aim to spread the word about medical research through hands-on teaching.
At Hands-on Papers, we don’t consider ourselves more experienced or better at research than our beneficiaries; we simply consider ourselves peers who started their research journey a couple of years prior.

FAQs
Why an “Internship”?
An internship is a short professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student's field of study or career interest, and that is exactly what we do. This program targets Syrian medical students particularly and aims to teach academic medical research, an area highly related to their field of study. What are our selection criteria?
Our primary target demographic is senior Syrian medical students and early-career doctors, who have theoretical knowledge in academic research but limited or no prior experience. We expect our interns to demonstrate great English literacy and no more than 1-2 past research projects. We also seek candidates who show genuine enthusiasm for our program and a keen desire to further their research skills. What is the expected timeline for the internship?
After completing the screening process and choosing our 12 interns. The program is expected to last for exactly three months. What is the expected weekly time commitment from you as an intern?
The internship training and tasks are personalized but an average of 8 hours per week is generally required. Is this internship paid?
No, the internship is NOT paid. As much as we would love to be able to pay our interns and volunteers. Hands-On Papers has received no funding for this program or any other so far. As soon as that changes we will state it clearly in our future initiatives.Got more questions?
